For my major project in the Langara program, I choice to focus on implementation of climate resilience related policies. Throughout the program, I learned the importance of implementation when creating any policy or plan and grew my interest in climate resilience planning.

Climate resilience has become a widely used planning concept, however, there is often less discussion about what climate resilience actually looks like in practice and how resilience initiatives can be effectively implemented. As my interest in climate resilience grew and more of my coursework focused on the topic, I began to notice this trend. While there is often an initial push to develop policies and strategies, there can be limited consideration of the practical steps, resources, and long-term commitment required to put them into action.

Through my major project, I wanted to explore this issue in greater depth and better understand why implementation remains such a challenge. Drawing on my background and passion for research, I saw this as an opportunity to apply my skills to an area of planning that I believe deserves greater attention. By examining the state of climate resilience planning and implementation, I hoped to gain a deeper understanding of the barriers communities face and identify opportunities to strengthen practice in this field.
