Extreme Heat Workshop Engagement Plan

This individual assignment involved developing a public engagement strategy for a proposed Extreme Heat Response Program for the City of Vancouver’s Social Planning Department. The project focused on engaging vulnerable populations disproportionately affected by extreme heat, including seniors, low-income residents, and people living alone, to inform how the program could be effectively implemented.

As the Engagement Lead, I developed the project’s engagement goals, stakeholder analysis, communication plan, equity and inclusion strategy, engagement methods, and data collection and evaluation framework. The proposed approach incorporated a World Café-style workshop, targeted outreach, anonymous feedback opportunities, and a public “What We Heard” report to create a transparent feedback loop between residents and program implementation. I also developed accessibility and inclusion measures addressing mobility, transportation, language, scheduling, and participation barriers
